After spending another wet night in Darwin at shady Glen caravan park we packed up and started heading south, destination Tindal RAAF Base (Katherine) for NYE celebrations. Along the way had a quick stopover at Adelaide River visiting local War Cemetery and the pub from here we headed to Robin Falls where we ran into the first of many torrential thunderstorms. Note to manufacturer: fit Trev with extra high speed windscreen wiper control.
After getting back to the car drenched from Robin Falls we decided to continue down via Hayes Creek route. Seems there had been considerable more rain south of where we were and water levels at each crossing we came to were slowing increasing. When it reached top of the guide post decision was made to turn around and head flat out back towards Adelaide River and Stuart Hwy. With Adelaide River racecourse and showgrounds flooded when we went back we decided to push on to Check and Bron’s place.
Had a couple of great days. Bron got to finally taste test Tom’s Paella and Check has a new signature dish, Marinara out, Paella in. Trev got an oil change and new roof racks. Fantastic NYE celebrations with Check, Bron and the kids also our newly acquired friends.
